Here is the latest Pondering. . .

This past Sunday I mentioned that it was possible to see a sunrise and miss its grandeur. Taking my own sermon to heart, I took the time the other day to stop and watch a sunset. I just happened to be in the right spot at the right time as the sun dipped over the trees above a lake. The rays shot through the clouds above and forest trees below. Two ducks slowly swam across the lake. It was one of those moments where all creation was praising the Creator right on cue.
The sun disappeared, and I resumed my run. Immediately a song burst forth within me that captured a sense of what I was experiencing. It is a song by Chris Tomin called “How Great is Our God.” Here is the chorus:
How great is our God, sing with me, How great is our God, and all will see, How great, how great is our God
Taking the time to appreciate God’s handiwork can lead us to an attitude of worship. Worship is to acknowledge who God is and ascribe worth to the one who created us. You might also call it “worth-ship.” When we take the time to experience the wonders around us, we find ourselves acknowledging this great God. The apostle Paul put it this way in Romans 1:20:
"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, ..."
I hope that you are finding the time to take in the world God has blessed us with. Take the time to slow down and look for the handiwork of God that presents itself each day. I hope you also remember that you too are a part of God’s awesome creation.
Grace and Peace, Pastor Matt
