Christian Services of Howard County Inc. is a non-profit organization that accepts donated clothing, furniture, appliances and household goods which are sold in its Thrift Shop at a nominal charge. The money is used to assist low income persons/families with loans or grants. It is located at 3267 Pine Orchard Lane, Ellicott City, MD, 21043.

Glen Mar supports this ministry by providing volunteers to work in the Thrift Shop on Tuesdays and Thursdays and on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month. Volunteers in the store sort donations, price items, run items to the sales floor, etc. Volunteers are also needed to make furniture deliveries on the second Saturday of the month.
Minimum Volunteer Age: Adults and youth. Youth: please contact Beth Kagey at 410.740.8129 or via email at bethkagey@verizon.net in advance.
Upcoming Volunteer Dates: Every Tuesday and Thursday; 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Volunteers can show up at the front entrance and tell the cashier you are there to work. You will be directed to the back to see what help is needed. There will be a short on-the-job training.
Announcements and Needs:
- Donations of new items: Donations of new socks and underwear for children ages 2 through 14 are always needed. Also, items like toothpaste, bath soap, band-aids and laundry detergent are appreciated since food stamps do not cover them.
- Donations of used clothing and household items: As for clothing we need it all, socks to hats. Clothing and linens can definitely be used, but in good wearable condition. We use all ages, newborn through nursing home. Housewares: We take all kinds of dishes, pans, small appliances that work, and kitchen doodads. We also take household decorations, framed pictures, sofa throws, etc.
- Donations of furniture: If the donation is good usable furniture, there is a truck that will pick the items up on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Contact Beth Kagey at 410.740.8129 or via email at bethkagey@verizon.net.
- Monetary donations: We can always use money because we help with rent assistance, utilities, car repair and other emergency situations.
All donations can be taken to the side Thrift Shop entrance on any Tuesday, Thursday, or second and fourth Saturday between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
